A sesame seed Ayurvedic massage oil recipe
During my time in Kerala, I sampled Ayurvedic medicine and met with the wonderful Dr Sreejithkumar. Being a sufferer of dry skin, he prescribed for me the following oil to make from home and apply in the traditional Ayurvedic Abhyanga (oil- massage) technique.
If you fancy it, try it out for yourself and let me know how you get on!
Ayurvedic sesame seed dry skin oil
Ingredients:
50g sesame seed oil – rich in copper, manganese, calcium and magnesium. Full of antioxidants making it both antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. The oil is easily absorbed into the skin, nourishing it from the inside out promoting skin softness.
1 tbsp almond oil – rich in Vitamin E, monounsaturated fatty acids, proteins, potassium and zinc, besides a number of other minerals and vitamins, making it so good for our heart, skin and hair.
100ml cows milk (or almond milk if you prefer).
Method:
Boil all ingredients for 5 minutes. Leave to slightly cool. Apply the hot oil to the body. Begin on the right foot working up the right side body in circular motions then down the left side.
