Since January 2018, I’ve spent close to one year in total in Morocco. As a huge fan of alternative medicine myself I’ve been inspired by the local natural remedies I’ve learned from local friends during my time here. Thank you to all of them for sharing the below with me. They have helped me so much and definitely beat taking Western chemicals medicines. I hope they offer the same healing for you.
Please note I am in no way medically trained. The following are based on local knowledge, my own knowledge and experience and are intended to empower you to try natural remedies versus pharmaceutical drugs for home remedies, if so inclined.
Cold Water plus Cumin
Wash your hands under the coldest water possible or hold a few ice cubes for a few moments. Place your cold hands straight onto the area of discomfort in your belly.
Breathe deep. Stay here until your hands begin to warm up from your natural body temperature.
Next, eat 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds or ground cumin followed by a small glass of room temperature water. If you prefer you can mix the cumin into the water and drink.
Swollen glands and sore throat
It might not be possible where you are to find liquorice in this form but if possible source a liquorice stick/bark.
Peel the outer layer and begin to chew on the inside. Do not eat the bark but swallow down your saliva created by chewing and sucking on the liquorice. Try to direct the saliva and swallowing to the sore throat area and glands.
I found the pain relief to be almost instant.
Boil water. Add 1 heaped tablespoon of the highest quality Oregano (dried or fresh) that you can source. Brew for 3 minutes. Pour and sip slowly with presence and awareness to gently soothe the headache away.
